IDA is browser-based tree management software for organisations that own a tree inventory and carry the duty of care (zorgplicht): municipalities, provinces, water boards and estate managers. It replaces Excel lists, paper inspection forms and a generic GIS with one dataset of trees on one map, where every value carries its source. From that map you create selections and projects, inspectors and contractors register mutations and photos in the field, and you approve what enters the official register.

Yes. IDA follows Handboek Bomen, the Dutch tree management standard published by Norminstituut Bomen, of which the 2026 edition is the current one. The BVC model uses the classes your inspectors know, such as safety class, condition, trunk diameter class and tree height class. Crown volume is calculated with the method from the handbook, from the data already in your tree inventory, and checked against the national height measurements (AHN).

BVC stands for boomveiligheidscontrole, the Dutch tree safety inspection in which an inspector assesses whether a tree has defects that affect safety. In IDA, BVC is a standard maintenance model with the fields the sector uses: safety class (tree without defects, attention tree, risk tree), condition, defects, urgency and management advice. The inspector fills in the form in the field, with previous values prefilled and only the questions that apply to this tree, and the result is then stored per tree in its file, with date and inspector. The Dutch duty of care (zorgplicht) comes down to proof: which trees you have, when they were inspected and what you did with the findings. In IDA every value in your tree inventory shows where it came from, who recorded it and when. Tree safety inspections are recorded per tree in the BVC model, and per tree you export a PDF file with the full history and the photos: the record you hand over when questions come.

You give your contractor’s organisation access per project, to work or to view, and other projects stay out of view. In the field the contractor uses the frontoffice, a field app that runs on any phone without installation, with the project map, their own position and the project’s form. Mutations and photos land directly in the project. If a tree deviates from your BVC register, the contractor reports it with proof photos and you review the deviation before the value enters the register.

Yes, and we do it for you. A shapefile or GeoPackage from your GIS, an Excel list or an export from your current system: whatever you have, we can work with it. IDA Bomen migrates your tree inventory for you and after that the whole inventory is on the map. Your data stays yours: you can always export it, to the common GIS and Excel formats.

Yes. IDA has an API that connects your own systems to the project data, mutations, status and location of your trees. The connection follows the same project permissions as in IDA itself, and every request is recorded. If your asset management or GIS system has no connection, you export per project to the common GIS and Excel formats, such as a shapefile for your GIS.

Yes. IDA Bomen has the Assistent (the assistant): you ask your question in plain language, and it sets the filter, colours the map or breaks the trees down by district. Nothing is saved or changed until you confirm, and it works with exactly your permissions.
